The Twenty-Eighth International Conference on Historical Linguistics (ICHL28) will take place at the University of Iceland, Reykjavík. The ICHL brings together historical linguists and specialists in related fields to explore advances in areas including methods and practices of linguistic reconstruction; formal and functional approaches to language change; historical sociolinguistics; computational approaches to historical linguistics; contact and areal linguistics; interfaces between historical linguistics and other disciplines; and many other related areas

Call for Workshops

We invite proposals for workshops in all sub-fields of Historical Linguistics, all languages and approaches (descriptive, theoretical, empirical, interdisciplinary, etc.). Workshops will be organized in 20-minute slots (20 min. presentation, 5 min. discussion, 5 min. room change). 

Workshop proposals must contain: 
– five keywords
– a description of the topic and research questions (c. 1000 words).

Call for Papers for the General Sessions

We invite paper proposals on any aspect (or language) of Historical Linguistics. Proposals should include a descriptive title, main text and references. The maximum length for the proposal (excluding references) is 500 words. Papers will be given in English. Papers that are not accepted as part of a Workshop may also be submitted for the general sessions.
